Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend Techniques?

I just had a Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend pickup system installed in my Avalon L32C. Initial playing yielded some great results, with very little feedback.

Does anyone know of some different techniques of mic placement inside the guitar with this system? If there are some special techniques that yield a particularly good sound, I want to know about it.

I had one guitar with one of those condenser mic deals inside the soundhole. My best advice is just place it somewhere away from where the pick strikes the strings (if you use a pick) or you'll get a lot of "clack" in your amplified sound.

As far as different tone what I found is that if I pushed it further inside of the body I would get a darker "woodier" sound and if I kept it closer to the soundhole near the strings it would brighten it up a little. Just my experience though.

Good advice, Aug.

I will mess with it in that manner, and see how it goes. At present I have the mic arm aimed inside the guitar just above the saddle, with the mic itself pointing toward the top/waist and away from the strings, and it does add the "woody" warmth. So far I like it set 50/50 blend with the UST. Really nice.

I will move it around and see about the brightness factor you were talking about. Thanx.
