Members guit30 Posted March 25, 2007 Members Posted March 25, 2007 A couple of stores that I have used in the past to buy guitars took tradeins and now they are not. There is still one place that does and sells guitars on consignment too. The Alvarez is finally back to 100% and I want to ditch it and get an 000 or smaller bodied Acoustic electric. I was hoping that I could have traded it in, but some stores just are not doing that. Anywhere else?Jim
Members Cripes Posted March 25, 2007 Members Posted March 25, 2007 No. All around me - mom and pop included - still take trades.
Members Tony Burns Posted March 25, 2007 Members Posted March 25, 2007 Its no wonder with all the look alikes , and cheap strat copies out their - when their selling for a hundred new , their worthless used - or 20-50 bucks, a store cant make any money on reselling starter guitars unless your buying something for a couple of grand-- its confussing - for example their are knock-offs by fender of their own stuff- squires for 100 bucks etc. All the music stores around here are only selling beginner stuff ( 100 price range ) with a few intermediate guitars - stuff you or me wouldnt give a second look to - their afraid to carry anything near pro-quality because it sits on the shelf , and their dealing with internet bargains from you know who. Their are only two decent music stores about 45 minutes from here , one who sell intermediate- stuff like Guild Gads, blueridge ( not not a great assortment ) - i think its a tough business to be in with all the large discount chains -

Members guitarist21 Posted March 25, 2007 Members Posted March 25, 2007 Same here, mine all take trades, and one takes consignments. The one I just came back from takes trades and consignments. I'm considering trading some stuff for a Guild 12 they have. Ellen
