im looking for a more "damp" kind of sound, not so twangy. d'darrios sounded kinda good after i broke them in a bit. i just put elixirs on my guitar and they are really twangy and i dont think i like it. i think i may try to break them in for a while and see how they turn out.

does anyone have any suggestions?

If you want a "damp" sound try flat wounds or silk and steel. But you'll lose some volume. And definitely give the string test a listen all the way through, very good test on very good strings. Just find the one you like the most. Martin sp 80/20 for me (I use the coated ones, .12s).
