Members MuertosVivos Posted April 1, 2007 Members Posted April 1, 2007 im looking for a more "damp" kind of sound, not so twangy. d'darrios sounded kinda good after i broke them in a bit. i just put elixirs on my guitar and they are really twangy and i dont think i like it. i think i may try to break them in for a while and see how they turn out. does anyone have any suggestions?
Members guitarist21 Posted April 1, 2007 Members Posted April 1, 2007 Freeman Keller, a regular around here, conducted a blind string test that has really helped many of us. Here is the link: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1556148 He did it on several guitars with several well-known sets of strings. Enjoy! Ellen
Members exhaust_49 Posted April 1, 2007 Members Posted April 1, 2007 His string test made me try 80/20 bronze strings after hateing them for 5 years. I won't play pb strings again.
Members moctzal Posted April 1, 2007 Members Posted April 1, 2007 If you want a "damp" sound try flat wounds or silk and steel. But you'll lose some volume. And definitely give the string test a listen all the way through, very good test on very good strings. Just find the one you like the most. Martin sp 80/20 for me (I use the coated ones, .12s).
