any of you acoustic guitar type peoples out there know about what this thing would be worth? no pic, im sorry, but its in very good shape, very little wear, probably about what you might expect from a rarely played guitar around 20 years old..nice tone, lovely solid top...

thanks

Are you selling or buying? I'm not familiar with that particular guitar but a 20 year old 12 string immediately raises some flags, particularly wrt neck angle. Be sure to run thru my Sick Guitar sticky.

For reference, I had an old Yamaha 12 from about that era that was everything that could be wrong with a 12 - an action like fretting the Golden Gate Bridge (but it looked nice). I think I paid $200 for it (a mistake), I think I unloaded it for $150. I also just put close to $700 into work on a beautiful 25 y.o. Martin 12 (neck reset, reglue bridge, bridgeplate, frets, setup) that is probably worth over $1500 now.

So I would say that if it meets all the criteria in the Sick sticky (good neck angle and action, tight bridge, no structural issues) a fair price would be in the few hundred dollar range. It it fails the test, probably not worth fixing.

its plays great...action is just where i like it, not like an electric, but not very hard to fret..the bridge is totally solid, with no up-pull in the top...the only issue with it was that the first couple frets on the e and b were fretting off a bit, but that was repaired with some very tiny little bone shims on the nut...i love this thing actually, but i need a new bass rig, so thats my only curiousity...

and i thought that older solid tops were supposed to get more desirable over time, is this just a myth?

OK, so you haven't done the tests - no comment.

Solid top quality instruments in good condition are more desirable than laminated top inexpensive instruments with bad necks. That is why I compared the Yamaha to the Martin.

There is no D26-12 listed in the HC reviews but people were willing to pay between 300 and 500 for a D24S-12 and 275 for a D-25-12 (altho they report that the bridge had been shaved to bring the action down, something that is usually considered a hack)
