Members mister natural Posted April 7, 2007 Members Posted April 7, 2007 it's a JM (mahogany sides, back & neck, ebony board and rosewood bridge) from the c series on instruments circa ~1978-79. I removed the pick guard years ago I play exclusively finger-style on this with straight tuning astonishing tone from c.f.martin silk & steels; less of the top, top end of bronze strings but still plenty of treble with decidely deep low-end. It sounds much bigger than it appears it's my baby; very seldom allow others to play it and could never part with it . . . but enough about me . . .
Members MBWendel Posted April 7, 2007 Members Posted April 7, 2007 Very nice instrument. I like the shape of the guitar. Nice couch, by the way!
Members Freeman Keller Posted April 8, 2007 Members Posted April 8, 2007 I agree with MB, very nice. I've never had the pleasure of touching a Gurian but they have a very good reputation.
Members knockwood Posted April 8, 2007 Members Posted April 8, 2007 Beautiful. First time I've ever even seen a Gurian, although of course I know of 'em by their great rep. Interesting body shape - looks like the Webber Roundbody shape. Would love to hear some clips...
Members DonK Posted April 8, 2007 Members Posted April 8, 2007 Very elegant looking. Clips would be cool.
Members funkymonk77 Posted April 8, 2007 Members Posted April 8, 2007 damn, they stopped making those a while ago. They had a big cover story on the history of gurian in the recent "fretboard journal"
