Members knockwood Posted April 11, 2007 Members Posted April 11, 2007 I thought Cracker Barrel was just a buncha rectangular blocks of cheddar...
Members guitarist21 Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 Ahh there aren't any near me! Ellen
Members T.B. Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 Ahh there aren't any near me!Ellen Find the main or high traffic highway(s) nearest you, it appears C.B. builds/puts their restaurants in those locations. Trina
Members smatel Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 Excellent breakfast!!! Moves right through.

Trina Yeah, actually, I know there is one off of a major highway that I travel on frequently, but I rarely head as far north as it is. Very far. Ellen
Members denvertrakker Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 I go to Barnes & Noble for the coffee.
Members SgMaster Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 hell, even target has some good popcorn every once in a while! I am proud to say I have never been in a Cracker Barrel and will never set foot in one. Also, what's the deal with the whole "We won't serve you 'cuz you're black" thing that happened at several of their places a few years ago? I may be a downhome place, but I think the managers are unaware the South lost the war!
Members Tony Burns Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 We lost ours a couple of years ago , they were more common than Mcdonalds and i think they werent a novelty here so they faded away - ours is now a doctors office !
Members DonK Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 Long waits and very salty country ham! Otherwise good. Never even noticed they have music.

Almost a dozen staffers were fired for sexual orientation a few years ago until some VERY large investors made a fuss...then they had a "change of heart."
Members DeepEnd Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 The nearest one to me is out in Fenton, MO near the Chrysler plant, which is a fair distance to go for lunch. Have to get out that way again one of these days, don't remember them having music. Oh, and the local Borders does have good coffee.
Members kwakatak Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 Meh - I actually prefer Bravo! Bistro. 'course I moved out of the trailer park a long time ago and am now one of those yuppie suburban snobs!

You can't have gays working at Cracker Barrel. You might get AIDS on your bacon.
Members guitarcapo Posted April 12, 2007 Members Posted April 12, 2007 About five years ago there was a mass murder at the Cracker Barrel here in Naples Florida. Robbery gone bad. They caught the two guys. The place is still open.
Members d28andm1911a1 Posted April 13, 2007 Members Posted April 13, 2007 Bad food, worse service, terrible coffee, and over priced. What music?
Members Pablo Posted April 13, 2007 Members Posted April 13, 2007 I guess I've never heard of Cracker Barrel before. I thought it was just a brand of cheese, but apparently its also a restaurant chain?
Members DeepEnd Posted April 13, 2007 Members Posted April 13, 2007 I guess I've never heard of Cracker Barrel before. I thought it was just a brand of cheese, but apparently its also a restaurant chain? Actually a combination restaurant and country kitsch gift shop. Think Bob Evans with souvenirs and you're about on target. As T.B. pointed out, they're usually situated along interstate highways and cater to traveling families. Try to get a kid out of there without having to buy something, always overpriced. The one nearest to me is along I-44. The food is pretty good but I've never heard music there unless JasmineTea is referring to the stuff that comes out of the PA, which I don't recall listening to.
Members Hudman Posted April 13, 2007 Members Posted April 13, 2007 My 6 year old son likes the toys they sell at Cracker Barrel.....
Members JasmineTea Posted April 13, 2007 Author Members Posted April 13, 2007 but I've never heard music there unless JasmineTea is referring to the stuff that comes out of the PA, which I don't recall listening to.Yeah, that's the stuff, it's piped in. They play all kinds of old hillbilly recordings with an ocassional Elvis song or newer country song tossed. Polynices, I believe it's the kind of stuff you've been known to listen to. Carter Family and all that.
