Members guit30 Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 This looks nicehttp://www.music123.com/Fullerton-Elwood-Pro-Auditorium-Acoustic-Guitar-(Closeout)-i732864.music I never considered a MF Rogue, so I don't knowJim
Members LiveMusic Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 Do a search on this forum. I think this is the model others have had problems with. Upon arrival, the guitar was junk. Unlike my Batsto model, which I love.
Members Hudman Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 That looks like a great deal. Solid wood for $199? It's worth a shot. Music123 has a 45 day return policy. People reported serious problems with the Jumbo Fullerton. I don't think any one from here bought the model you are looking at.
Members rjoxyz Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 Hud is right, it was the jumbo that most posted having problems with.
Members J. Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 Yep, the jumbo is it. People reported great experiences with the dreads on the other hand. We really need to merge all these Fullerton threads into the MegaThread on the same topic.
Members missedmyexit Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 I bought the jumbo 12 string.. It needs a setup but overall I'm not impressed with it. If I could find someone to give me the 100 bucks I spent on it I would probably sell it.. I could change my mind once I get it to the shop to get a setup, if they can fix the buzzing it might be worth keeping.

There is a "Fullerton Mega Post" thread.. Just need people to use it

Members missedmyexit Posted April 10, 2007 Members Posted April 10, 2007 Missed My Exit, How do you like your PR-5E?, had a friend who gigged with one , sounded and looked greatJim I'm day to day with it really... It's to me anyways a little heavy on the highs and not enough bass and mids to my liking. But Plugged in it sounds alright and is definately worth more then they will give me to trade it. That said I would trade it straight up for any quality Dread. But I only have two 6 String acoustics and it's a great change of pace.
Members guit30 Posted April 11, 2007 Author Members Posted April 11, 2007 How's the neck and fretwork?Jim
Members bigmo66 Posted April 11, 2007 Members Posted April 11, 2007 My friend bought a dred and he is disappointed to say the least. Terrible neck (frets uneven and a couple not fully seated) and sounds like a $100 Fender. He tried hard to justify the cheap price, but it's junk. I feel bad because I told him to buy one! There's a reason why they are blowing them out.
Members missedmyexit Posted April 11, 2007 Members Posted April 11, 2007 How's the neck and fretwork?Jim On the Epi .. Perfect as near as I can tell. The Fullerton needs some work though. Same issues as all the jumbo's buzzing and sharp edges.
Members guit30 Posted April 11, 2007 Author Members Posted April 11, 2007 MME, Did you get the PR-5E new or used?Jim:wave:
Members missedmyexit Posted April 11, 2007 Members Posted April 11, 2007 I bought it new a while ago. Ball park 5-6 years ago
Members baldybeano Posted April 16, 2007 Members Posted April 16, 2007 I can't vouch for any of the other Fullerton models but, I can tell you the Batsto dreadnought I bought is an exceptional guitar and not just because of the low price. It's got a gorgeous sound, great looks and is very well constructed for a mostly machine-made 'assembly' line guitar. Unfortunately, Music 123 and it's companion site, Brasswind & Woodwind, no longer have the Batsto model available except in a lefthanded version, which, assuming you're right-handed, would be easy enough to convert. Any competent luthier or guitar repair shop could do this for you at a reasonable price or you could do it yourself. Replacing the pickguard and the nut would really be all the conversion would entail. Considering it's sound and quality, it would be well worth the price. Since Music 123 has filed for bankruptcy and been acquired by Musician's Friend, the Fullertons will soon be gone for good, no doubt, once the stock is sold off.
Members DeepEnd Posted April 16, 2007 Members Posted April 16, 2007 . . . Replacing the pickguard and the nut would really be all the conversion would entail. . . . The intonation would be out of whack since the saddle would be at the wrong angle. I was considering having a guitar converted for our daughter who is left handed before I was told by a local guitar instructor that it's preferable to learn right handed. A local shop told me they do it all the time by filling in the saddle slot, cutting a new slot, and replacing the nut. $50 flat rate, which is reasonable in my book.
