This may not make sense to alot of players but I feel buying your dream guitar right off the bat is the most affordable solution - i ran into a Young lady and her husband at a state park afew years ago who told me when she realized she was going to be a guitar player she bought a Martin HD-28 , she figured it was economical and smart to buy the top guitar that you like rather than buying something affordable and working your way up - i like her reasoning so :

affordable : Buy the guitar you really want -

really pushing it : two guitars you want ( In my case i waited a year and a half between these purchases )
