Found this at the local flea market. $75.00 I figured why not. From my research I believe its a Kay Model k20. Circa 1940. Help me out with this one guys please! Check out the flamed maple neck and back. The sides are as well. The top I believe is solid spruce. Check out the pics and let me know what you think.

Great find. I'm no expert on Kay guitars but I own an old Kamico Kay parlor size guitar with a solid spruce top and solid maple b/s. Mine is a great sounding guitar. Compare the wood grain on the inside to the outside to see if your b/s is solid. Use a small flashlight through the F hole while looking through the other F hole. You probably allready know this. I've found that alot of Kay guitars were laminate and didn't sound that good but some are pure gems. From the pictures yours looks to be quite a gem. :thu::wave:

Okay, were those shots blurred or what. The last one on the chair looks pretty good - great find. I'll make a deal with you. You find the guitars, I'll take the pics.

interesting. action looks on the high side

Yeah, in the last shot it looks like the neck has tilted upward.

Nice find though.

Even if it's unplayable, for that money it will look good hanging on the wall. Beats a "couple of paintings from Sears". ;)

The neck may not be bad, just lay a straight edge on it - you can easily lower that action by removing a bit on the bottom of the bridge . That really is a beautiful guitar - looks good on your mission chair !
