Members d03nut Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 The more I get the urge to "deco- & re-decorate" our house. I really don't know why. Sorry about the "filler" thread, but 999 nonetheless
Members KrisKunisch Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 Could be possibly because the workmanship in Acoustic Guitars are better showcased than most of their electric guitar counterparts? The intricate and visible craftmanship in structure, wood bending, wood selection, purfling and inlay? It's alright, when I think about electric guitars...sometimes I think about painting my garage, other days, I miss them.
Members Cripes Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 I do too. I'd really like to turn my livingroom into a full service studio with subdued indirect lighting - maybe a blacklight or two for the good old times - and acoustic treatments to the walls and ceiling. A couple or three iso-booths with vocal and instruments mics, stools and finishing touches like essential stocked beverage coolers would be nice. Yea, I'd really like to re-decorate.
Members KrisKunisch Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 It's interesting, the allure and immediate enjoyment with a fine acoustic instrument. I often times go through weekly periods of where I would contemplate purchasing an electric once again. Oddly enough, I find myself asking the salesperson if he/she knows of a cleaner amp, followed by a request to play the electric through an acoustic amp (longing for a crisper, vibrant tone), and then returning to the realization "I have what I need, what I need, I already have". I've owned some nice equipment over my years of playing, Reverend Hellhound, Vox AC30, several Keeley effects, a few custom Strats, a Hamer or two, and I sold it all because I came to the realization that my "Tone" was based in "Layers" instead of the "Simplicity and Purity" I strived for. Hence my recent return to playing Acoustics. Any guitar can sound raw and open, very few can command the player's attention to dynamics and expression like an acoustic instrument can. No assistance from boosters, drive pedals, and enhancers...just a soundhole, a learned and tested top. Simply the best decision I made, to shed away all the cords and equipment I hid behind.
Members Queequeg Posted April 25, 2007 Members Posted April 25, 2007 do3nut, I think you are becoming more right brained. the more you play acoustic, the more you feed the aesthetic aspects of your being (and your brain). Left Brain = LogicalSequentialRationalAnalyticalObjectiveLooks at parts Right Brain =RandomIntuitiveHolisticSynthesizingSubjectiveLooks at wholes or maybe you're just getting in touch with your female self...(guess I better get outa here now)hey- is the 999 silent?
