Members KATMAN Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 If none of you has ever seen Phil Keaggy in concert,do yourselves a favor and get this dvd. Everytime I watch this man play,I want to throw my guitar down in disgust.I am amazed by his talent. This dvd gave me a little hindsight how he's able to get his sound. He uses a loop effect called a "Jam Man".He's able to do little riffs and play them over, while he's playing. It's like hearing three or four guitars. He's incredible to watch. The dvd also has extras, like some spoofs where he'd blown a song. He's also a funny guy. Anyway,I bought it for a low price. It was well worth the money. One of the best dvd, video concert I've had.
Members AugTPD Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 Phil does some crazy stuff with that Jam Man. One of his guitars (maybe the Olson?) has a condenser mic and I've seen him use an egg shaker to set a beat, then lay some body slapping over that, and then play over the "drum beat" that he has created in the first two steps. Makes me sick.....
Members DonK Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 There's an interview with Phil in the current issue of Acoustic Guitar in which he discusses his looping approach. Great player.
Members sonrise Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 Phil is the best Ive ever seen, and he always remembers where his talent came from...
Members guitarist21 Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 I saw him live at a church here in Chicago and he was incredible. It was an unforgettable performance. My two favorite songs he did were Salvation Army Band and Here Comes The Sun. Ellen
Members DenverDave Posted April 24, 2007 Members Posted April 24, 2007 Great DVD. Phil is always uncomfortable on camera, and that comes through a bit - but there are some great moments on the DVD. Plus the commentary track with Phil and Brian (road manager/sound tech for Phil) commenting on the songs is priceless!
