Hello from Paris,

Sorry for my english.

I'm 47 years old and I'm nostalgic years 70 music as America, Neil Young, Cat Stevens...and lovers of the Old Guild Guitars but also Martins...

So on the LP album cover " View from the ground " 1982, Gerry Beckley hold an acoustic guitar. Is somebody know the brand? I know it's not easy.

And this one than old Dan Peek from the songbook "Harbor". Sure it's not a Breedlove or Klein Guitar.

And this one is my F40 Custom Shop Valencia Guild.

Thank you for your help.

I'm just a poor lonesome french guitar player.

Welcome to the forum! The guitar on the Beckley album cover looks like a Yamaha, from the pickguard and headstock. I wouldn't know which model, but there are a few people in this forum who may be able to tell you.

I couldn't say who made Dan Peek's guitar. From the odd shape of the bridge I might guess Cumpiano, but I've never seen that kind of funky inlay work on a Cumpiano, so maybe not...

Nice Guild!

Thank you Knockwood,

Yes may be the Gerry Beckley Guitar is a Yamaha but I don't see what is the model? Around years 1980 I think.

To help you for Dan Peek's guitar, the inlays on the fingerboard are the space with moon and stars as around the soundhole. The bridge shape is strange.

I was thinking Alvarez, from the circular emblem on the headstock. But that guitar is probably from the 70's.

Thank you,

I will try to get informations on the Alvarez guitars from the 70's. It's a lead to explore.

I'm looking the album cover again and yes may be it's this old Yamaha circular emblem.

So is there anybody know this model?

The first guitar is almost certainly a Yamaha; the second looks to be a Klein. Trying to figure out what model the Yamaha is will be nearly impossible; many models with virtually identical specs but various model names have been produced over the years. The guitar in the pic will be an FG of some kind.

Allenthomas,

The guitar Gerry is playing is a L-53 handcrafted Yamaha guitar. It's the same model that John Denver played beginning with his Windsong album in 1975 after changing from the Guild F-50R that had a double pickguard and a Artist Award neck he last used on his live album 'An evening with John Denver'.

Yes Rick, you are just, it's a L-53 handcrafted Yamaha guitar. Custom model and built years 75 to 80. Back and sides are in Jacaronda. It's a brazilian wood sometimes wrongly called brazilian rosewood, and used on the 70's Epiphone FT-550 (6 strings) and FT-565 (12 strings).

I've seen one to sell on a Japanese shop website for 1.200.000 yens = $ 10.000 =
