Members Queequeg Posted May 1, 2007 Members Posted May 1, 2007 I havent seen one of these yet, except for the images, but I'd like to play one and find out what they sound like. In any event, this is one very pretty 614 Taylor guitar. redwood top. maple back & sides and what looks like tiger maple neck.
Members Cripes Posted May 1, 2007 Members Posted May 1, 2007 That is one pretty guitar and the combination of woods sounds very interesting. Isn't redwood structurally about the same stiffness as cedar?

Isn't redwood structurally about the same stiffness as cedar? that is my understanding, Cripes, but we have folks here who actually know a lot about individual lumber species' characteristics & attributes, so I will defer to their expertise.Redwood is very close to cypress but I have never heard of anyone using cypress to build a guitar with.Interesting, that 35-style back in quilted maple.
