Hello all,

I am looking for a good, fairly inexpensive ($300 or less) mixer with effects to be used for primarily for a two-man acoustic guitar act. We already have powered speakers, just need to find a small mixer to plug our mics and guitars into, and a little 'verb to make things sound better. Any thoughts or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks, :thu:

The best bang for the buck and reliable is the Mackie DFX-6.

Individual Channel 80 hz and 12 Khz shelving and an overall 5 band eq...with a great FX package.

Much better made than the Behringer, or Alto, Nady....cheapo stuff.

Yamaha may have a small MG series offering that is also good.

I like the Mackie a lot!

The Great White North , eh!?

Take off, eh! I'm not quite as North as you Canadian hosers. I'm in Northern Lower Michigan, which is fairly north as far as the states goes. Been a big Bob and Doug fan for years :thu:

Anyway, back to the topic: I've been eyeing the Mackies, but I wondered if there were other options I'd missed.

Berhinger's are basically Mackie clones, and are a lot cheaper. Mine was $200 and it has digital effects, pretty chintzy effects, but you not going to find Lexicon quality in any mixer in this price range.

I use an Alesis Multimix which also sports a firewire interface to buss audio into my computers

+1 :thu:

I also use the Alesis; if you have a firewire buss then it can do double duty as a mixer for live performance and as a digital audio recording interface.
