Another great MayFest gig...

Actually, the only bad Mayfest gig was 1997, when my ex-father-in-law/great buddy, passed away on his way home (his health was very poor), but I'm glad that one of his last memories was the applause he got when he sang a slightly G-rated (but still hilarious) "Gatesville Cannonball" (a raunchy parody of "Wabash Cannonball"...worth Googling! ;)) at that year's MayFest w/ my band...

Anyway, here's a few pics from today's gig...I did it solo this year...

This performance was recorded, so hopefully, the sound quality will be good enough to start putting together a "Live" album, and possibly one of the pictures (with some judicious cropping) might become the cover art (probably not #2, though...maybe #3!)

Cool, TAH!

Where's the band?

Well, Kat (percussionist/daughter) had something to do, dealing w/ her college she's to start attending, and Wendy (bass) had a previous gig, so I did it solo this year.

Out of 28 shows (over 31 years), almost 1/2 have been solo, for one reason or another.

Too bad I'm all the way up here in New Hampshire and you are all the way down there in Texas - I'd love to hear you preform.

Well, I'm looking into getting booked at some Folk Festivals up your way in the next few years, now that my kids are all old enough that they can spare me for a few weeks at a time, so maybe I'll be able to accomodate you! :)

What, in your opinion, would be the best New Hampshire-area festivals to solicit?

Sadly, I have no idea what there is in New Hampshire. However, there is a Fair in Maine that is absolutely outstanding - it is the MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association) Common Ground Fair. This is held every year (this year it is September 21, 22 & 23, 2007) up in Unity, Maine. It is a really splendid fair with lots of events, activities, exhibits and endless good vibrations. I used to drive up (3 &1/2 hours) before the arthritis made all that walking around too tough. Here is a link so you can contact them. If you are in the area at this time you really should go. Just get there early because the traffic gets backed up going to the Fair pretty quickly.
