Members 0rbitz9 Posted May 8, 2007 Members Posted May 8, 2007 What is your total recording chain? Are you using a microphone into your recorder, or a line out from a acoustic/electric guitar into the recorder? A lot of inexpensive mic preamplifiers can start to get very hissy when you get close to having the input gain turned all the way up. This can be especially problematic if you are using a low output dynamic mic on your guitar.
Members 32-20-Blues Posted May 8, 2007 Members Posted May 8, 2007 Sounds like you need a condenser mic. If you're using a dynamic, you'll generally need to turn up the gain on the input to get a decent signal, which can get hissy.

It also helps to use an XLR input instead of the standard 1/4" or 1/8" types.
