Have a Seagull S6 slim neck now which is a dread. Only I've body I've played. Also had a Washburn D10s for a while.

Anyways, Is the orchestra body like the Guild GAD30 I read so much about on here bigger or smaller.

I've been playing electric a lot lately and find my dread a little too uncomfortable. I don't need electronics. Thanks

Smaller. I'm about to pull the trigger on the GAD 30R and it's a lot more manageable for me than my dread. I find I can play it much longer without getting tired and don't need to stretch nearly as much. I wish I'd known more about sizes when I first started to play.

That link has some dimensions for you to look at. And the orchestra model or "OM" like the Guild GAD30 is smaller than a dread.

Each body style will deliver a slightly different tone as well. Don't expect a nice OM guitar to sound like a Dread when you strum a thick E chord.

I personally have a Guild GAD30RE and prefer that body shape because I also don't like large guitars. I love how some Dreads and jumbos sound but I just can't get comfortable playing them. I've only had my Guild for a couple of days (bought it to replace an OM model Alvarez) but I can say I'm very impressed and I highly recommend one if you're thinking about it.

I hope that helps!!! Good luck and have fun shopping.

The orchestra/ OM/ auditorium sized guitars are smaller. also adding to the comfort is that they are narrower at the waiste. They have a more balanced sound than a dred. [less low end boomy] They tend to be more popular with fingerpickers I also use a pick with mine occasionally. If you can find one to try it would help your decision. As far as comfort only my parlors are better.

OM's also seem to have less depth (like the space from top to back) and it might sound quite a bit different from a dread. I have a 000 12 fret which is close to OMs and it's more responsive to fingerpicking than my dreads are and more balanced. Different than the bass oriented dread.
