nut riser for converting to slide

the goal is to convert a standard guitar into a slide/dobro type instrument

 

googling for nut riser hasn't been very helpful, other than musicians friend

 

 

any suggestions?

try "nut extender" - StewMac, Resonator Outfitters, Beard Guitars.....

edit to add: be a little careful putting a set of "dobro" strings and tuning UP to "dobro G" on a standard acoustic. That adds a fair amount of tension to the top. Regular open G or D is no problem.

If you're going to just use the guitar for slide just slip in a taller nut. There is a "nut raiser" called the "Perfect Nut" that you can get from Elderly. It can be removed so you can play normally.

Some years ago I saw some kind of nut raiser that flipped up or down but haven't seen or heard about it for years so it may not be available any longer.
