Hey everyone. been dying to get a good Taylor guitar for a long time. any suggestions? a few i have played in Guitar Center have the battery pack INSIDE requiring the strings to removed...is this how it is on a lot of them? are there any Taylors that have onboard tuner and EQ with the battery pack right there? i'd hate to have to always remove my strings to change the battery....

looking for a price range of 800-1200 if that's even possible for Taylors. haha

thanks all!

I would suggest the Grand Auditorium ('14s) from Taylor.

Look for a used 314ce or 414ce.

I haven't seen any Taylors with the kind of battery pack that you were mentioning.

You only have to loosen the strings ( if it's situated like my Epi) and it's not something you'll need to do that often.IMO it beats gnawing holes in the thing.

I just bought one!!

Mine is a 414ce ltd - The batteries are accessed next to the jack plug. Sound is outstanding both acoustically and amplified.

Good luck - hope you find exactly what you are looking for!

I played a DN4 (ovankol back/sides) recently that was about $1k. It was one helluva guitar, and honestly one of the first Taylors I've actually liked (although it was recently sold).

If you haven't done so yet, go check out the Grand Symphony guitars. They're really something, IMO.

I too just bought a Taylor, a 314ce. The 2007 version uses a 9 volt instead of AA batteries. Both versions, as therichardsgang mentioned, have the battery compartment next to the jack plug so it has nothing to do with the strings. You'll need to buy 2nd hand at that price range - unless you choose to buy a Taylor without electronics. Good luck.

I am taking a wild stab in the dark here and guessing you are from the Boston area. If you are you should really check out the Music Emporium in Lexington. The store is all Acoustics tons of Martins Taylors Larrys.. Everything. Bring a bib cause you will like drool.

Also the guitars I was looking at were a little cheaper there then at Guitar Center.

It's a bit of a drive, but you should also check out Acoustic Outfitters in Stratham, NH

They have an excellent rep and carry Martins, Taylor, Cort, Breedlove, Larrivee, Blueridge, Santa Cruz,, Guild, Huss and Dalton, Bourgeois, Tacoma and some nice vintage stock.
