Members Duane C. Posted May 28, 2007 Members Posted May 28, 2007 I bought this wonderful Guild new in '81, from Driver Music. Co. in Oklahoma City. It was manufactured in Feb. of '81 (stamped inside on neck block). The unique part I have not seen or heard of on any other Guild is.. the decal identifies it as.. D-25 m Spec. If anyone knows of this particular designation please let me know. Also it has upgraded Schaller type enclosed tuners while others that year were open gear. Is this is the "Spec." ? Anyway the incredibly warm, sustaining sounds are remarkable. The harmonic overtones continue to amaze me, even after I banged it against a church pew two years ago and put a two inch hairline crack (repaired nicely) in the lower bought. It was without dings until that momentus second of careless attention. I could hardly sing and play the songs that night. Anyway your comments appreciated.

D25's with the "M" designation from that era, I believe, simply mean that the spruce top is stained in a mahogany color. I think early 70's D25M's were all mahogany. I'm not sure about the "Spec.".... sounds like it could be the tuners. For more info, you can always do a Search of post an inquiry at: http://www.letstalkguild.com/phpBB2/index.php
