Members MBWendel Posted May 24, 2007 Members Posted May 24, 2007 Thank you, Terry! That was beautiful. I will check this guy out. I'm a big lap style fan and here are a few I think you may enjoy, as well. Best lap style blues I've ever heard (watermelon Slim). Or maybe, I just like him. - Probably my favorite modern player (Kelly Joe Phelps). Definitely my favorite singer/songwriter still around. Unfortunately Phelps, seemingly, retired his lap slide years ago. This isn't up to his usual level, but is still a beautiful take on an old Leadbelly tune - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc68_eoSRoo Another monster player who languishes in obscurity (Ed Gerhard). He plays so beautifully. I love him. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CqINDrS-dY
Members Freeman Keller Posted May 24, 2007 Members Posted May 24, 2007 Sweet. How about some nice Fred Kinborn http://www.youtube.com/oahusteel75 And our own Fingerbone Bill is a really great lap player on that new Weissenborn clone. I keep thinking someday I should pick up a cheap old Ohau and dedicate it to learning to play lap style
