Members Preacher Will Posted May 29, 2007 Members Posted May 29, 2007 Went out to our local mom-n-pop last week to see what was new in guitar-land. Played several Taylors (the new GS is quite nice) and then the sales guy hands me this little 14 fret, slot-head, OM size Taylor with a sticker that reads "Prototype." Cool little guitar. I'm not much into fingerstyle or smaller bodies (I was looking for a jumbo) but this little thing was sweet. Classic Taylor sound--clear, ringing, bell-like tones, strong in the treble, weak in the bass, but balanced in that you could distinctly hear all the strings. Lessee, she had a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, hog neck, ebony finger board and bridge (don't remember if it was pinned or pinless), and rosewood on the headstock which was joined to the neck with the new scarf-joint instead of the old finger-joint. Workmanship was excellent with beautiful book matched back and gold Waverly-style (may have been Waverly's) tuners. If it goes into production, it should be a real contender.
