Members Mel Bay Posted June 8, 2007 Members Posted June 8, 2007 What's the hot skinny on the Steve Kaufman flatpicking DVDs? I know there is the four-hour bluegrass jam workout DVD, and a 3-DVD flatpicking course. If you had to choose just one Kaufman, which would it be? Or is there a better flatpicking instruction DVD out there? Many thanks, friends.
Members majorbanjo Posted June 9, 2007 Members Posted June 9, 2007 I've got both and it depends on what you want to do.....if you've never flatpicked before I would say go with the 3 dvd set...if you've flatpicked a little then go with the four hour jam...it gives you backing tracks to play along with and is a great practice tool....there is a slow version of the song and then a real fast version....it's tough keeping up with a fast version but by trying to play faster you'll develop the mechanisms to get faster providing your mechanics are correct from the start.....prior to using the four hour workout I'd recommend his "picking up speed" DVD it will give your right and left hand a good coordination lesson and you'll be ready to takle the faster verion of the four hour bluegrass jam.....all the steve kaufman dvd's are great and I highly recommend them....I think I've got them all.....
