Members rkyochim Posted June 10, 2007 Members Posted June 10, 2007 I have a 000 sized Yamaha acoustic that has a 25.5" scale length..... It has a red label inside........I got it from the original owner who has stored it since new (early 70's)........it is virtually unplayed and in mint condition........it sounds great and my only dislike is the chunky neck.........does anyone know the value of this guitar???? thanks!
Members guitarist21 Posted June 10, 2007 Members Posted June 10, 2007 I'm not sure of the monetary value but I can tell you you've got a very good guitar on your hands, rkyochim! Red-label Yamahas are prized around here for their sound and workmanship. Congrats! Ellen
Members babablowfish Posted June 10, 2007 Members Posted June 10, 2007 What is the model #? It is printed on the label.
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 11, 2007 Members Posted June 11, 2007 Also, run thru the Sick Guitar tests and tell us the answer (particularly the neck angle check). That will make a big difference in its value.
Members rkyochim Posted June 11, 2007 Author Members Posted June 11, 2007 It is actually made in Taiwan and is an FG-110.......I had it set up by a pro and the action and intonation are perfect and the kneck has the perfect angle...there is no fret wear whatsoever and the finish is almost flawless... any more feedback?
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 11, 2007 Members Posted June 11, 2007 the kneck has the perfect angle... If is correct, current value should be somewhere around a hundred bucks. If that is not true and the action is still good, somewhat less. If the neck angle is bad, they are very difficult to reset, and to someone who knows guitars, not worth much (might make a good little bottlenecker, tho). I paid $100 for my FG-150 in 1969. The neck angle is "slightly" bad now - one of these days I will do the reset myself. The guitar is an old and dear friend, plays well and I wouldn't sell it, but if I did I would probably ask $100. However, there was one on evil-bay a while back for $600 so what do I know? http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Yamaha/FG-110/10/1
Members babablowfish Posted June 11, 2007 Members Posted June 11, 2007 I believe that you could get a little more than that on ebay - maybe $150-200 if it is really pristine and the pictures show it. But given how great the reviews are, why would you want to sell such a great little guitar? I just read the reviews and now I want one!

It's rare that you can find one of those old FG's without some neck issues. A friend of mine bought a super clean Taiwan FG180 off eBay a couple of weeks ago and she sounds just as amazing as her Japanese made brethren. I would like a FG-110E. (red label) but these are rare birds. Several years ago I lost in the closing seconds for a FG-110E on eBay, oh well. I made the decision to have a neck reset done on my FG-150, one of the best decisions (guitar wise) I've ever made. Trina
