im on a search for a nicer acoustic guitar. im fed up with bridge spacing problems on my alvarez and ill probaby be selling it soon. i have my eyes set on the yamaha apx700. i like the idea of the A.R.T. pickup system. i know i've already asking this question before, but does anyone with recent or previous APX models know if its possible to fit a soundhole pickup into an APX guitar?

also does anybody know if guitar center or musicians friend will sell the CPX700 and 900?

I don't use a soundhole pickup. I use the built-in.

If the question was:

"but does anyone with recent or previous APX models know if its possible to fit a soundhole pickup into an APX guitar?"

I'd say "yes". The guitar has a soundhole. Therefore, it is possible to put a soundhole pickup in it.

I think the Yamaha built-in pickup is pretty good. In fact, it's as good as any acoustic pickup I've used.

Which soundhole pickup will fit your APX? I don't know. Try out the one you want. See if it fits.

im using a dimarzio elemental soundhole pickup.

i dont have the guitar right now, im just thinking of buying it

i like teh idea of the A.R.T. system but i probably cant use it through the roland jazz chorus my school has for it will feedback and sound like an acoustic electric piezo pickup plugged into an electric guitar amp. i'll use the build in electronics for the worship band at my church.

anyways the rosette, the ring around the soundhole looks thicker on recent apx models like the APX500 700 and 900. when i looked at the APX6Na image i posted it looked like the soundhole wasnt thick like other newer APX's. i wasn't saying that the guitar doesnt have a soundhole, just that the rosette might be too thick (not wide) for a soundhole pickup to be fitted.

btw, hows the unplugged tone, considering its a small thin bodied guitar?

Maybe so. It may be thicker on the newer models. I used an inexpensive DiMarzio on my son's Guild D-25. I loved it. It sounded better than the more expensive built-in Fishmans I have on my other guitars - especially when you run it through a JoeMeek pre-amp/ compressor..

yeah i went to GC today. i played an APX500 and it sounded pretty nice for a laminate top guitar. it didnt look like the soundhole wouldnt fit a soundhole pickup unfortunatly. =(

maybe the A.R.T. system in the APX700 might sound decent through an electric guitar amp
