Members Tony Burns Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 Have a couple Homespun dvds by Peer Huttlinger- " Essential exercises for fingerstyle guitar and "A Guitarists guide to better practicing " both are excellent but Im now looking for a dvd to learn some tunes - I like Celtic fingerstyle stuff, possibly Al Petteway ? ( he has a set of two been thinkng about ) as well as a few other styles and teachers - I know their are big differences in Teachers and styles of teaching - are their any that are better than the rest - out of 5 Im somewhere between 3 and 4 for abilities-
Members simplygoodmusic Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 Try either the tommy emmanuel vid (lots of good examples, but not really that much tutoring) or the Tuck Andress "fingerstyle mastery" (fantastic, but its really a lot of work).
Members Sisyphus2 Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 Try "Folk Blues and beyond" by John Renbourn.
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 I think Mark Hanson is one of the best all around fingerstyle instructors - I have several of his books and videos, and have taken a couple of seminars and private lessons from him http://www.accentonmusic.com/ I also have a whole library of videos and dvds from both Stefan Grossman and Homespun tapes - I'm not in to Celtic as much as the blues, but both have many offerings at all levels. http://guitarworkshopuk.com/ http://www.homespuntapes.com/
Members Dave W. Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 Pat Donohue has a couple DVD's available through Stephan Grossman. Big Blind Bluesy is a favorite of mine with a challenging walking bass line.
