Members savs165 Posted June 22, 2007 Members Posted June 22, 2007 Hey Guys,Im new here, but I was curious if anyone knows anything about this guitar? Ive heard its made in China, but I thought for $1500, it was USA. Anyone ever play one of these? Is it worth the money? Im considering one because it has all the specs on want and in my price range. But I know Im being anal, but I cant get over the China thing. Ive tried emailing the company a few times for more info and they wont get back to me. Any info would help. Thanks guys.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a dread is the easiest body to get sounding good and I'm not sure I'd pay the premium for one. That being said, Eastman makes nice stuff. Probably the biggest difference is the finish. Even the nice Chinese guitars, like the Guild GAD series, use a pretty thick poly finish. The Eastman uses a very thin nitro finish. It won't have that perfect dipped in plastic look, but should be a positive for the tone.
Members moctzal Posted June 22, 2007 Members Posted June 22, 2007 Hey, I've played a few of those, they make excellent stuff. Their archtops are awesome. They're primarily a stringed instruments and they also decided to start making guitars. It's a Chinese company, not a US company making cheap imports. Their employees drive cars to work and are well paid and respected. The cases they come with are also fairly high quality. If you play it and like, those are the things that matter right?
Members whit townsend Posted June 22, 2007 Members Posted June 22, 2007 Don't know about their dreads, but they make some fine mandos and fiddles.I hear the archtops are nice as well.
Members JasonA Posted June 22, 2007 Members Posted June 22, 2007 I have the OM model, an AC710, sitting at home in a Fedex box, hopefully intact, waiting for me to unwrap when I'm done with work.
