Members leftync Posted June 25, 2007 Members Posted June 25, 2007 I've got to ship a guitar tomorrow, from NC to Chicago. Any thoughts on the best carrier ($ is important. I'm trying to keep costs within budget). It's a dreadnaught, worth about $100, in a chipboard case. Weight under 10 lbs. Anyone experienced with this?
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 25, 2007 Members Posted June 25, 2007 I have only used UPS and alway followed the recommendations here http://www.bryankimsey.com/shipping/ That is how most music store ship theirs. Get a regular guitar shipping box from a music store, pack per Kimsey, insure for replacement value and you shouldn't have a problem.
Members leftync Posted June 25, 2007 Author Members Posted June 25, 2007 Freeman, you are the man! We're down to one music store in this area, believe it or not. No boxes available, so I bought one from UPS. UPS looks good to me so far.
Members Freeman Keller Posted June 25, 2007 Members Posted June 25, 2007 I don't remember if Kimsey mentioned it, but one little trick is to pull the end pin (it should just be a push in like a bridge pin) or pad really well around the pin. I saw a thread once about a guitar that had been dropped on the end and it had split at the pin. Easy thing to do
