Members Li10 Posted June 30, 2007 Members Posted June 30, 2007 yep. From what I've read Fender's aren't too good. I want an acoustic for gigging, that sort of thing. A gig-worthy acoustic guitar, that sounds natural. Or maybe I should just get an acoustic modeller pedal... but NO! Acoustic guitars are obviously better. and nothing too expensive.... I'm a pikey EDIT: or.... I could BUILD MY OWN!! and simply mic it up at gigs! It would sound crap though. Oh well.

IMHO Here's a list of Yamaha's APX Models/Series. Cheers. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/document/yamaha/apx_acoustics?doc_id=101216 Trina
Members denvertrakker Posted June 30, 2007 Members Posted June 30, 2007 You might want to try the Ibanez Talman series - especially the TCM, which has a magnetic pup as opposed to the piezo on the other models.
Members 32-20-Blues Posted July 1, 2007 Members Posted July 1, 2007 Takamine G series. And are you really a Pikey?
Members DaveAronow Posted July 1, 2007 Members Posted July 1, 2007 Yamaha compass series acoustic guitars electric rigged ( mic plus piezo blend) are absolutely the best kept secrets in the entire acoustic electric world. They are masterfly built using top grade materials, and are extremely beautiful and designed with players in mind. They play like dreams and sound incredible. I have over 40 guitars, and basses, both electric and acoustic and I also have a $20,000 master built classical violin. My yamaha compass series acoustic electrics are absolutely my favorite instruments of any kind that I have ever owned. Check them out on the yamaha website. Or better yet, look for a used one on the bay. I dont know if they still make them with the adjustable bridges anymore, but you can find the high end custom shop handmade versions with the adjustable bridges if you look hard. I dont see alot of these things for sale used, which either means that yamaha didnt sell a ton of them, for whatever reason, or that people who do own them are reluctant to part with them. Once again, I think they are the best kept secret in the acoustic guitar world. Expect to pay anywhere between a few hundred bucks to 1400. dollars new or used depending on whick model you get and which features you get.
Members Etienne Rambert Posted July 1, 2007 Members Posted July 1, 2007 Used Ovation Elite or Custom Legend. They sell cheap and they are great guitars.
Members Stoneball Jack Posted July 1, 2007 Members Posted July 1, 2007 Seagull are very good for around $400. Epiphone masterbilts are also very good. I almost got one but i decided to jump up in price range and get a simon and patrick
Members RodTod Posted July 1, 2007 Members Posted July 1, 2007 www.carvin.com another well kept secret. The Cobalts are a great value and are actually made by Cort if I am not mistaken. The thin A/E's are spectaular plugged in.
