Moderators BATCAT Posted July 6, 2007 Moderators Posted July 6, 2007 My apologies if this question has been done to death- I did a search but didn't really find any threads that wholly resolved the issue for me. I mainly play electric live, but Im going to be doing some shows where I'll use my acountic, which has no pickup onboard. I have a budget of about $100 and I need one pronto, so I'll probably just run down to GC and get one from the more common models there. I used to have a Seymour Duncan Woody, and I though it sounded pretty good, but it's hum was really loud, especially in certain settings. Anyone tried the hum-canceling version? Or how about the Fnder ACP-1? Or Fishman...? Thanks in advance for anything you can suggest!
Members Terry Allan Hall Posted July 6, 2007 Members Posted July 6, 2007 Check out the DiMarzio "Elemental"...humbucking, so it's very quiet, plus it has 12 adjustable pole-pieces, so you can tweak the string balance to near-perfection...and it sounds great through any amp or PA. In your price range, too! http://elderly.com/new_instruments/items/DP134.htm

Members guit30 Posted July 6, 2007 Members Posted July 6, 2007 fishman neod-elemental is good too, have had bothhttp://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?SKU=FNEOD01XX&ovchn=FRO&ovcpn=FROOGLE&ovcrn=FNEOD01XX&ovtac=CMP
Members min7b5 Posted July 6, 2007 Members Posted July 6, 2007 Either the Fishman Humbucking Rare Earth or the Baggs M1 Active. I prefer the Earth, others like the M1, both are around the same price and seem to be the most popular. If price is not a factor, the Rare Earth Blend is truly great.

Members pathofspirit Posted July 6, 2007 Members Posted July 6, 2007 I own the Baggs M1 active - a great pickup but beyond your $100 limit. I also own the Duncan Woody humbucker and I've had no hum and good sound. I also run it through a Behringer Acoustic ADI 21. If you find one of the Dimarzios, great. I'd like to read your reviews. This might be my next one.
Moderators BATCAT Posted July 6, 2007 Author Moderators Posted July 6, 2007 All right... I went to GC at lunch and their selection wasn't great, but since I want one for rehearsal tomorrow and I had a gift card I went ahead and gotand picked up a Dean Markley "Promag Grand". I'm no acoustic pickup aficionado, but FWIW I'll post my opinion on it later. Thanks!
