I know Tunecore could provide us with a UPC but it would be unique to them and I want to get one that is unique to our band. I can't figure out what I need to do to get one. I live in Canada and can't find any information on what I need to do. Anyone out there done this before that could help or point me in the right direction? I've seen the stickied thread in Music Biz but that's for the American Government, I need Canadian.

The UPC isn't governmental--and yes, the one you get from TuneCore is unique, and it's YOURS for life, even if you don't use us in the future. Furthermore, feel free to use it on your PHYSICAL product too, if you'd like! All of these should work just fine in Canada. --Peterpeter@tunecore.com

If we were to use the UPC you give us to sell the album in stores, won't it come up as a Tunecore product and not our own? I thought the first 5 digits of the UPC were unique to Tunecore?

They're unique, but we're giving them away. Feel free to take that code and register it with any commercial group you want. We didn't send it to anyone, it's a "blank slate," so to speak.
