Members DonK Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 I've been rediscovering my copy of "Livin', Lovin', Losin': Songs of the Louvin Brothers" for the past week or so, and what a great tribute CD it is. It features artists like Alison Kraus, James Taylor, Vince Gill, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris and even Johnny Cash covering songs of the Louvin's. There's even one covered by Glen Campbell and, Jim's new favorite, Leslie Satcher! If you haven't heard the CD, it's worth a listen! This stuff doesn't sound like the original recordings (most of which I have), but it still sounds GOOD!
Members denvertrakker Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 I once heard Emmylou tell a great story about the first time Gram Parsons played her a Louvin Bros. song. She asked "Who's that great female singer doing the high notes?" - not realizing it was two brothers. She's been a big supporter of their music ever since...
Members catdaddy Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 The Louvin Brothers made some great music. Heard an XM radio interview with Charlie Louvin this week that was really cool. He's in his 80's and still performing and touring. Inspirational!

Inspirational!Pretty good article in the current (July '07) issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine...seems he no longer plays his D-28 because he lost the tips of 3 fingers, on his fretting hand, in a farming accident (that just gives me the chills! )
