Members Terry Allan Hall Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 Ordered new business cards just now...Embarq bought out Earthlink, apparently, and everyone on Earthlink has until 10/31 to change their e-mail address...this decision was made about 2 weeks after I ordered 1,000 business cards, with the old (Earthlink) e-mail address, naturally... Anyway, here's the new one...as I was having to re-order, anyway, I went ahead and got a new cardstock (the old card was solid green):
Members Freeman Keller Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 I assume you have updated your e-mail and contact info on your website. If I wanted to get ahold of you I would probably just google your name, go to your site, find the "contact me" link, order a couple of dozen cd and book a gig..... My e-mail address book is always out of date but I can usually find someone if they have a web page.
Members guitarist21 Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 I had a bunch of business cards made when I started doing studio work and ended up using them a lot less than I thought I would. Now I hand them out to folks who run church services and they call me when they need a bassist/guitarist/mandolinist/whatever. Ellen

Seriously, 1000 cards costs about $45...about 1 out of every 10 cards I hand out turns into a booking (or several), so that's a heck of a bargain, I think!
Members Scodiddly Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 I bought my own domain name just to get out of having to change my email address every time I changed providers. You might check into just getting a hosting company that'll do your email as well as your website.

You might check into just getting a hosting company that'll do your email as well as your website. If you want to do it the real easy way, you can just get an alias or forward set up for your domain email address. That way you can use whatever email account you want, and when people send email to you@yourdomainname.com, it will go directly to your current email address so you don't have to bother checking multiple email accounts.
Members bassred Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 I've been with Earthlink for several years and I haven't heard anything about this.... did they send a notice to your registered E-mail or what?? Maybe I'll go to my other folders and see if it got dumped in my junk folder.......

I didn't, so hopefully I won't.

I didn't, so hopefully I won't. That's interesting/bizarre...wonder why some of us had to change, but not others? Used to be on flash.net, which got bought out and then that company got bought out and then that company got bought out, ad nauseum, yet no matter who owned what, my email remained tahall@flash.net for several years (like 6 or 7)... Well, I've never claimed to understand the internet business, but I'm beginning to think it might be a lot like the sausage business...the less you know, the better it tastes!
Members bassred Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 I haven't recieved anything, so I'm going to assume I'm OK..... Like I said, I've been a customer of Earthlink for about 10 years, I've never been contracted through anybody but them....

Like I said, I've been a customer of Earthlink for about 10 years, I've never been contracted through anybody but them.... Well, the more I think about it, the more I think Embarq was temporarily using Earthlink for their email, but now are phasing into doing it, themselves...we've only been using Embarq as out ISP for about 6 months, so I don't know how long Earthlink was affiliated or bought out (or even if they were)... I will say Earthlink did a better job w/ email, but I guess I can live w/ the way it is...
