Members DonK Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 Funny. I used to spend time in GJ, EJ and the Amp forum. I forget which one of those it was in, but someone once posted, "hey guys, I just checked out the acoustic forum, and man is that place weird. Those guys don't even have avatars." This was a few years ago, as most people here DO have avatars now.
Members Chrisjd Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 As the original poster said in the link..... Guitars should be electric and loud.
Members guitarist21 Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 "we should organize ourselves and invade the acoustic forum." We need to prepare ourselves for an invasion! Ellen
Members Scodiddly Posted July 13, 2007 Members Posted July 13, 2007 "we should organize ourselves and invade the acoustic forum." We need to prepare ourselves for an invasion! Ellen No, we should invade them instead.
Members 0rbitz9 Posted July 14, 2007 Author Members Posted July 14, 2007 It seems like there's some serious misconceptions about the acoustic forum out there. I thought most of the people here like Taylor guitars....and even electric guitars and amplifiers once in a while. Here's some clips of my new 100 watt Traynor amp: http://mysite.verizon.net/vzewchyl/soundclippage/index.html
Members guitarist21 Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 I love electric guitars. Excuse me for getting a little confrontational and arrogant but I challenge any of those guys to a duel! I will out-shred the shredders! Ellen
Members DonK Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 No, we should invade them instead. That would introduce a degree of civility they're not accustomed to in that forum!
Members 0rbitz9 Posted July 14, 2007 Author Members Posted July 14, 2007 Walk softly but carry a big stick.
Members rjoxyz Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 That would introduce a degree of civility they're not accustomed to in that forum! ...and to fit in, we would have to adopt avatars of scantily clad underage little girls, bending over while looking over their shoulder.
Members AK47 Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 "we should organize ourselves and invade the acoustic forum." We need to prepare ourselves for an invasion! Ellen Nothing to prepare for Ellen. The majority of metal heads have more shred than substance. Unplug their amp and you'll hardly notice they're there.
Members guit30 Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 Do you think there could be an inquistion? I still can play my Dickey Betts riffs? Turn up the Orange and warm up the tube distortion J
Members Cripes Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 That would introduce a degree of civility they're not accustomed to in that forum! Civility! Never thought about that. Good point. Might cause a sudden surge of activity at Wikipedia.
Members guit30 Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 Wikipedia, the peoples encyclopedia ,of course, man the electric tuners!!!!
Members bassred Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 Just ask them who can play in a blackout..... not them.... I play acoustic and electric guitar, ad electric basses along wit an upright, now I think there would be a lot more volume from acoustics when the lights go out, they'd be stuck with 'fwappa fwap fwap' as their pis bounced off their strings with no music.....
Members xupernaut Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 Its funny in reading that post alot of the replies everyone starts about their acoustics.
Members darksun Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 No, we should invade them instead. "what will we do tonight brain",,, "the same thing as we do every night pinky,, TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD":D
Members attic Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 I love electric guitars. Excuse me for getting a little confrontational and arrogant but I challenge any of those guys to a duel! I will out-shred the shredders! Ellen Ugh, shredding.......so........lame........ Let them go for their silly halfstacks. I'm going to warm my twin reverb up. The first one that gives feedback loses.
Members kwakatak Posted July 14, 2007 Members Posted July 14, 2007 Just ask them who can play in a blackout..... not them.... I play acoustic and electric guitar, ad electric basses along wit an upright, now I think there would be a lot more volume from acoustics when the lights go out, they'd be stuck with 'fwappa fwap fwap' as their pis bounced off their strings with no music..... I love my acoustic, but playing late at night can be dicey what with a whole family trying to sleep and all. The only alternative seems to be to take the guitar outside and risk get eaten alive by mosquitoes though. So I had a friend rig up a cable that allows me to hook up my electric directly to my laptop. Then I put on my headphones, fire up Reaper, turn on a couple of effects and play as aggressively as I want with no worries. It's also nice to be able to just plug in and hit record whenever an idea hits me. I don't see it as a replacement for my acoustic since I do prefer the natural tone, though. There's also this issue of I/O latency lag that I can't seem to nail down. It works in a pinch though.
Members 0rbitz9 Posted July 16, 2007 Author Members Posted July 16, 2007 Nice job guys. It seems like there can be a degree a civility on that other forum after all. Here's another thread from over there: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1685104 Hope I'm not stirring the pot too much.
Members D For Kate Posted July 16, 2007 Members Posted July 16, 2007 do those things come with mascara?
Members 0rbitz9 Posted July 16, 2007 Author Members Posted July 16, 2007 No, you have to supply your own mascara if you like coated strings.
Members Harmonycat Posted July 17, 2007 Members Posted July 17, 2007 Walk softly but carry a big stick. I agree and beat them mercilessly like the Scots beat their cows. With a Stick!!!!! A Coo Stick!!!!!!!:D:D
