Spotting your guitar

Last week I think Ellen mentioned how cool it was to spot her guitar being played by professionals. I realize those of you with some of the top of the line Martins see this all the time but I wondered how the rest of you guys feel about this. Today at lunch (potbelly's) I noticed the guy playing and singing had my guitar. A few weeks ago watching an episode of House, he bought a new guitar after 15yrs and it also was mine. About a month ago I noticed a video of Warren Haynes playing an older version of my guitar. It was kinda cool.

I don't really give it much thought; for me it tends to be the other way around: I'll see someone playing a particular guitar and start to want one myself.

That would explain your signature....

I don't really watch much guitar playing. I hear we've got a good local bluegrass group, but I've never seen them, and grass isn't really what I want to play. I do listen to a lot of guitar, but I can't tell what's being played.

My Harmony's claim to fame - it's the same model used by Jimmy Paige for the acoustic intro to "Stairway to Heaven".

:idk:

You are correct sir (at least partially). :thu: The Martin D-41 is the result of a long love for Martins in general, and in particular the desire to own a D-45 like one of my heros, Stephen Stills, played. I decided a D-41 was close enough: $2,500 more for a bunch of extra abalone wasn't worth it. The Gretsch is a similar story: White Falcoln was too much money, 6118 was a reasonable compromise. The Gallagher is self explanatory. Those are the only three I currently own that were inspired by artists, though. The rest just stem of a love of guitars as both musical instruments and art.

Whenever I see someone else with my guitar (Ovation Celebrity), they pretty invariably suck at playing. No idea how to handle the damn thing.

Just bad luck I guess.

Now I have an excuse to go buy a new guitar! :D
