Members PFB Posted July 21, 2007 Members Posted July 21, 2007 I own one - and I LOVE it!!!It was my first "big guitar purchase" in 1999. I was prepared to hit $1800, possibly more. Been mostly under $400 guitars to that point, but I hit about 30 yrs and decided I needed a great acoustic.I have about 12 guitars or so - If I live to 80 yrs old, I am certain I will still own my CL-30. I even thought I should play a Martin, but when I tried the CL-30 after looking at Martins and Taylors and Gibsons and Guilds, I decided to get it. I check on EBay every so often, for $800 I sometimes consider getting a scond one.If you get to play it first, I don't see how anyone wouldn't think it's a bargain at $800. For some reason, I guess because it's not a "classic model" like a J-45 or J200, they must get overlooked. I also read a Vintage Guitar magazine article said that one reason they were dicontinued is they were not "Gibson" enough.I guess I paid about $1200 or $1300 new back in 99, it was a great deal then, IMO. $800 now is an even better deal.Acoustics are very subjective, they can differ from one to another of the same model, so make sure you try it. Maybe it won;t suit what your looking for, but I could not be happier.
