Can anybody point me to some materials/sites (other than specs on an individual guitar) that helps compare 000 and OM guitars...as to length, width, depth, nut size, etc?

Thanks

There's no uniform standard among different manufacturers as to the use of the designations 000 or OM; most seem to take their inspiration from Martin, while Martin itself doesn't distinguish between the two based on dimensions, as you can see here:

http://www.mguitar.com/guitars/features/shapes.html

That said, the main Martin 000's - the 000-28 and the 000-18 - have a shorter scale at 24.9", compared to 25.4" for the OM models (but note that most other Martin 000 models, like the relatively modern 000-15's and 000-16 series, have the longer 25.4" scale). Most Martin OM's have a 1.75" nut width, while the 000 standard is 1 11/16" (though there are models like the 000-28EC with the wider nut).

Many manufacturers don't use the designations at all. For example, Taylor originally called it's equivalent to the 000/OM size guitars the x14 model (as in 314, 414, 514, etc.). Now they have a GA (grand auditorium) series, as well as a GC (grand concert) and GS series.

FK--THANKS for the links--great info--exactly what I was looking for. Now all I need is the BIG $$$ necessary to get one of these and an even better way to tell my wife about "needing" another guitar...I have a feeling that story gets around too!

I'll just add that the Martin 000 and OM's are my favorite guitars. My home made 000 is roughly based on a long scale 12 fret triple ought and I really love that little git. You might give a look at the OM-21, kind of a sleeper, but great bang for the buck.
