My Art and Lutherie Wild Cherry neck is fading or wearing...

So, as the title says, I noticed today that the neck on my Art and Lutherie Wild Cherry is wearing where I keep my thumb/palm on the back behind the 4th and 5th fret.. it looks like the paint is fading or something, and it's about 1 year old now.

I know its only a 250 dollar guitar, but I like it, and it sounds decent, especially for Laminate.

I'm just wondering if this is a normal thing?

that wear represents the hours of enjoyment this instrument has given you. I often buy used instruments and I like to see this on a guitar. It is not a sign of abuse; rather, to the contrary. It's the manifestation of an instrument that has been lovingly played and made a lot of good music.

Yeah, I've definitely played more acoustic than electric in these 4 years I've been playing.

I've just never seen anything like that on old thousand dollar guitars, but I might have just not been paying attention.

Some people (myself among them) like guitars with unfinished necks and so some guitars don't show the wear as much as others. Often, though, they show it in other ways. Like the neck will get darker (read: grimy) in the oft-played areas. This is the case on a couple of my guitars.

But any guitar that is well played will show signs of wear. Even thousand-dollar guitars.

That's a sign of dedication. :thu:

Some people may see it now as an imperfection, as some people see facial creases as nothing but aging lines.

Other people see laugh lines. :)

If there is any finish on the neck you aren't playing it enough.

+1 Yep, you're just looking at the guitar instead of playing it.
