Members BILL9433 Posted July 29, 2007 Members Posted July 29, 2007 I have a Crafter TRV-23 and have a need for a hardshell case because of some upcoming rough travel arrangements. (36X13X4 inside) Anyone have a suggestion?
Members AK47 Posted July 29, 2007 Members Posted July 29, 2007 Call Elderly music with your dimensions. It won't be a crafter case but they have a much wider variety of hard case sizes than just about anyone. I'm sure they will have a couple of options for you.
Members garthman Posted July 30, 2007 Members Posted July 30, 2007 You would probably need a 1/2 guitar size case but you don't see many hard shell of this size around. You could certainly get a good thick padded case or maybe a hard foam one: try Tribal Planet.
Members FloridaSeagull Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 How are you shipping it i just shipped mine and it came back today with a huge crack straight through the body!!!!
Members babablowfish Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 If you are going to one location and then coming back, you could wrap it really well with bubble wrap and ship it Fed-Ex to yourself. Be sure to loosen the strings and make sure the whole neck is fully supported and remove the end pin so that if it is dropped on the bottom the end pin won't split it.

Members babablowfish Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 No, no, no, no! Why? Why? Why? Why?
Members garthman Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 Further to my 1st post: Tribal Planet do rigid cases for 3/4 Guitar and Tenor Banjo / Mandola that might well fit your guitar. Check out their web site and compare dimensions. www.tribal-planet.com
Members garthman Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 Why? Why? Why? Why? Because it can kill them!
Members babablowfish Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 Because it can kill them! Anything can potentially kill them. Unless you are buying a Carlton case which insures you against damages, there is going to be some risk no matter what you do. Given the horror stories I have read about airport baggage handlers and crushed guitars in their hard-shell cases I think a carefully packed guitar going Fed-Ex has a better shot at surviving the trip.Consider that guitars get safely shipped to their new owners by guitar stores everyday in well-packed guitar boxes.

Ah! So you put them in a box as well as the bubble wrap (you may think that everyone would have assumed this but I was once sent a guitar just wrapped in bubble wrap!)

Need I also mention that you should securely tape the box shut?
Members Queequeg Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 what?tape, too?Mon Dieu!sacre bleu!
Members garthman Posted August 2, 2007 Members Posted August 2, 2007 Jeez! Are you kidding me? Need I also mention that you should securely tape the box shut? Well it would certainly have helped if you had mentioned it to the dickhead who sent me the bubble-wrapped guitar? (It's a bit like the guy who bought the Winnebego, set the cruise control and went in the back to make a coffee!)

He went in the back to get a cup of coffee & he was mugged and woke up 85 miles further down the highway with his toes in his own Coleman ice chest and his kidneys had been removed and the Winnebago was still rolling along @ 55mph. No, really, it's true! Hijack to Urban Legends thread. Oh good. I love these things.

(36X13X4 inside) Anyone have a suggestion? How big is Brentwood? I have a good friend that drives those huge buses for touring stars that lives there.

No, really, it's true!Hijack to Urban Legends thread. Oh good. I love these things. I bought a coffee from a stall at a show a few weeks ago - served in a paper cup. I laughed and laughed because on the cup were the words: "Caution, May Contain Hot Liquid". The guy running the stall said that everyone put those words on their cups now following a court case. A woman bought a coffee from the drive-through in McDonalds (may the whore hounds of Hell rip their balls off!), put it between her legs and drove off, 1/2 a mile down the road she had to brake sharply, coffee spilled and scalded her legs. She sued McDonalds (may vultures peck out their eyes!) and won!! (Oh joyous day!).
