Members RSBro Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 Sorry I searched but couldn't find it or missed it-but what's the model Dave plays on his solo/Tim Reynolds stuff, and used to play back in the day? The full dreadnaught. Thing sounds so much better than his Taylors (to my ears) it's insane. I know it'll be pricey, but might be a good investment piece.
Members EvilTwin Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 Well, here's his signature model: http://www.harmony-central.com/Events/SNAMM99/Martin/DM3MD.html But he plays D-28's and D-35's, too.
Members iago Posted August 3, 2007 Members Posted August 3, 2007 Most of the time I think it's an HD-28V. Sometimes his sig guitar.
Members johnkline Posted August 4, 2007 Members Posted August 4, 2007 only 234 made, wow, that would be hard to find... Interesting 3 piece headstock matching the back, and englemann spruce top! John
Members jedistar Posted August 4, 2007 Members Posted August 4, 2007 One sold today at UMGF - was asking $5K http://p082.ezboard.com/ftheunofficialmartinguitarforumfrm3.showMessage?topicID=12955.topic
Members Hudman Posted August 4, 2007 Members Posted August 4, 2007 I watched Dave Matthews play 3 tunes solo on the Sundance channel on DVR (Tivo) earlier today (Abbey Roads Sessions). I'm no Martin expert, but it looked like he was playing a Martin HD-28V. It sound amazing: Loud, well balanced with excellent dynamic range. Matthews is a great guitar player. I think he sounds amazing no matter what he plays.
Members kwakatak Posted August 4, 2007 Members Posted August 4, 2007 Regardless of whether DM played it or not, you can't go wrong with a HD-28V.
