Members rjoxyz Posted August 4, 2007 Members Posted August 4, 2007 Some may remember the little Avalon feeding frenzy that went on a few months ago, and the minor dramas caused by a less than perfect eBay vendor. I think it was Knockwood who suffered the greatest slight. I ended up with a Czech built A101 Gold Series model (Avalon was also making Golds in Ireland at the time). Was all excited with anticipation and when it arrived, I was a bit underwhelmed with the tone, though it was a beautiful guitar. Someone suggested I could always re-sell it on eBay, and maybe make a profit as the price was pretty low when I bought it. Well, I decided to sell it on eBay (have sold a few I don't play much to fund my continuing GAS--this recycling has worked pretty well). Ended up going to a guy in Australia for a little less than I paid, but so be it. I was satisfied. I still have an Avalon Silver A/E made in Asia. The point to all this? I went on a forum on the Avalon corp. site last night, only to find that they had returned all production of the Gold Series to Ireland, and the guitar I sold was one of only 150 Czech models ever made. If anyone here has one of the Czech models and decides to sell it, you may want to use the "rare collector's guitar" angle. I sure would have.
