Members guitarist21 Posted August 6, 2007 Members Posted August 6, 2007 Anyone used it before? Thoughts, comments, recommendations? I've needed my mandolin amplified more and more lately and have had less opportunities to mic it. I was also thinking about using on my Gibson LG-0 occasionally. My Epi has the Pure Western Mini in it, but when I want the sound of hog, I'm stuck with my Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker. Don't get me wrong, it sounds fine and I use it all the time at loud, feedback prone gigs, but it is not as convincingly acoustic. Anyone used it on a guitar before? Ellen
Members Freeman Keller Posted August 6, 2007 Members Posted August 6, 2007 No experience, but keep us posted. Also, an interesting round table discussion in the latest AG mag with a dozen of the leading (aftermarket) pickup manufacturers.
Members rjoxyz Posted August 7, 2007 Members Posted August 7, 2007 Ellen-- I had the Twin Spot in an Alvarez I sold a while back. I'm not sure I could hear much difference in comparison to the Pure Western Mini in my L-03 (putting aside the fact the guitars differ in tone) in terms of reproducing an accurate sound.
Members DeepEnd Posted August 8, 2007 Members Posted August 8, 2007 It should work fine. I once saw a mandolin with a Schaller Oyster installed, which is quite similar to the K&K, except that it's a single transducer.
Members guitarist21 Posted August 8, 2007 Author Members Posted August 8, 2007 Glad to hear it is comparable to the Pure Western Mini, which I think is a great pickup. Thanks guys! Ellen
