Even though this forum is probably primarily directed at online distribution via the web, artists and labels can continue to get exposure through traditional venues that tie into their online presence. The line between Cable/Satellite TV and streaming content on the internet may eventually become quite blurred as computers and TVs become more and more the same medium, but in the mean time, traditional on-air promotion can still be a big help in getting an artists' name out there. Which leads me to the NextWave promotion on Strictly Global, a TV program featuring new independent and/or international music videos on the MHz Worldview channel (Fri. evenings). As an independent, non-profit public television production, Strictly Global has to rely on the need/desire of new artists to get their name out there (or independent labels to promote their new artists). NextWave is an effort to promote and showcase up-and-coming independent / international musicians, hopefully better enabling the global music community to "cross-pollinate" and interact, bringing greater awareness of our various influences and movements.
