Members FloridaSeagull Posted August 13, 2007 Members Posted August 13, 2007 im looking for an acoustic electric Seagull and found the model and look i like, the Seagull Performer with a CW. Now ive found one at GC for $700 with the QII electronics in it( a mic and the internal pickup too) and one at Music Castle for only $550 with only the QI electronics in it(internal pickup) is it worth it to spend the more cash for the mic or can i buy one seperate to add on???PLEASE HELP ME!
Members Cripes Posted August 14, 2007 Members Posted August 14, 2007 I had a Seagull with the QII system. Never played the QI. The boom mic does give some dynamic to the mix. Whenever you get a system that has "more", usually it gives you better control over the mix. I would go for the QII simply for that reason. You won't be saving any money by buying and later adding to the QI. First, the system is not expandable so you can't simply add a mic and wire it up to the controller or jack. You would need to change the controller as well so it would actually cost you more in the long run.
Members rjoxyz Posted August 14, 2007 Members Posted August 14, 2007 I agree with Cripes. I had an Alvarez that allowed me to add a mic to the piezo (simple plug in to the preamp) with a mixing knob on the controls. Most systems do not provide for this kind of retrofit. The mic definitely lets you dial in a more natural tone when plugged in.
