TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS GUITAR?

If you like the cedar sound I doubt you could go wrong with the Seagull. Musicians Friend has a pretty liberal return policy if you don't like it. Do yourself justice and give it a try. If you don't like it you can always return it and get the Masterbuilt, but it won't have a cedar top sound. There are many schools of thought on the laminate back and sides thing. Ovation even thinks they can make it out of helicopter plastic.:) I've heard some excellent sounding guitars with laminate b/s. If this is what you want then get it. Seagull builds quality guitars that is why their price has been steadily going up.

Also wanted to say there are 16 different Seagull dealers in Florida and this doesn't include GC wich has started carrying them. If you tried I bet you could find one to test drive. Many stores carry the Masterbuilts. If you're near Orlando the "Guitar Factory" cut a friend of mine a great deal on a Seagull a few years back. They had to special order it because it was left handed. Took about a week.

I've played many taks and they are, dare I say, fabulous. Many pros use them in concert because they are good sounding, very reliable and have great electrics in them.

what about takamine acoustic electrics are they any good?

Yes Tak does make some good guitars. A lot of companies do. I would suggest spending alot of time in different music stores and test drive as many as possible. This is a fun pilgrimage and shoud be enlightening. When you've played one that really give you GAS then tell us why you like it. It is just hard say which company is the best at a price range when each individual guitar has to be judged by its own merit. Good hunting:thu: If you find a model you love I will even make an attempt to find one to test drive to give you an honest opinion of that model. Ultimately you're the one that needs to be inspired by this guitar.

We are a pretty supportive group here unless you play an Esteban.:D:wave:

I love Seagulls...but not for that price. For $700 you could be looking at -15 Series Martins, or even -03 Series Larrivees.

I got my S6+Folk for $350. Add $60 for a Dean Markley Sweet Spot, and it's still about $300 less than the 'Gull in your original link.

My advice would be that if you really do like Seagulls (like I do), get one without electronics. You can install a pickup cheaper.

thanks guys i have considered buying an S6 without electronics but i really want an onboard equalizer too. I played the Seagull at a GC and it really sounded nice unplugged in my opinion it was Seagull Performer CW QII and it came with a case. I agree i dont really want to spend 700 in fact i only have about 600 to spend so i think Larviee are too expensive. any more suggestions 700 dollars is my limit in cash....by the way thanks alot keep em coming!

Take a look at Walden's. If you have a preference for Cedar top Mahogany/Rosewood, Walden make damn good guitars -would fit your budget perfectly with some change to spare. :)

I like the Walden's Natura Line: http://www.waldenguitars.com/steel/natura/natura.html

Walden Dealer Location in Florida: http://www.waldenguitars.com/dealers/us/fl.html

Check out Ebay too.
