Ive been getting repeated advertisements for Musicians friend threw this forum - sent to my email address which is a P.I.T.A - im tired of them sending me advertisements like their doing me a favor - hiding them as NAMM newsletters , i know theirs no such thing as a free lunch - but this forum is using us -- i dont hate musicians friend or anything like that ( Ive boughten strings and cases etc from them ) i just dont like being used -- im betting theyll delete this because they essentially own this forum -- Thats why ive been spending more time at the Taylor forum and Larrivee lately.. From here on out im tagging them as Spam .....

I've made a number of purchases from MF over the past few years, so I have a permanent place on their email and postal mailing lists. I use filters in my email client to supplement the spam filters on the mail server - whatever gets thru to my account that I don't want gets dumped when I d/l my mail. I don't filter mail from vendors I use, or I'd lose order confirmations, tracking info, etc. I've been doing business on the net for ten years with the same email addresses, and used to get tons of spam, but the mail system has been upgraded several times and blocks garbage more effectively, and I can deal with the rest by filtering locally. It's much better than it was years ago, and junk email from vendors I do business with doesn't bother me.

Never gotten any of those or they've gone to my GMail account's spam box automatically. You must be signed on some mailing list.

The Harmony Central Newsletter?

I get it too. Look at the bottom of the email:

"This newsletter was sent to pascalxxxxx@xxxxx by Harmony Central. If you no longer want to receive it, click here to unsubscribe. Harmony Central respects your privacy and will never ask for personal information in an newsletter. Read your Privacy Rights."

I think it is a legal thing that most emails have an op-out. I have a junk email address that I use for the internet purchases, and another I keep very private for my business. But yeah, I hate spam.

I get both the HC and MF newsletters. This is what's at the bottom of MF's:

"This email advertisement was sent to txxxxx@xxx.net by MusiciansFriend.com. If you no longer want to receive our email advertisements - click here to unsubscribe."

I betcha that'll work;)
