Members AugTPD Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 Stumbled across these today. All solid construction at a scary low price. Anyway, here's the link.... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/guitars?N=100001+705206 It may just be speculation on my part, but they appear to share a ton of similarities with the Johnson Carolina series guitars that have gotten a lot of respect recently. I'd be interested to hear if they come from the same factory based on the cosmetic similarities (tuners, inlay, pickguard, etc...). I'd be even more interested to know if they are well built and sound good!
Members Broadus Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 I've read that they appear cheaply made. All solid wood at that price certainly makes you wonder what's really up. If it's too good to be true, . . . . Bill

But from $500 to around $800 you can find some really nice stuff (Ephiphone MB, Guild GAD, etc...)
Members guit30 Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 MF used to carry a line of 2 or 3 guitars called Silver Creek, made by Abe Wechter for MF, they didn't make it. This looks like another MF collaboration Jim
Members Broadus Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 I remember from an earlier search that a forumite commenting in a post a couple of years ago had tried a Silver Creek and was very unimpressed with its build quality. Bill

I know that the Carolina series will be released under the Radiotone name. Looks like Johnson is trying to overcome the Johnson reputation and get this awesome guitar the following it deserves with different branding. If I hadn't just bought a Norman, I'd be tempted.
