Members Michael Martin Posted August 16, 2007 Members Posted August 16, 2007 Just before leaving on this long driving excursion back in July, I bought a Fender F-15 (no, it doesn't fly) at the local pawnshop, as a travel guitar to replace my tonally deficient 3/4 Applause. I don't know much about it--It's obviously pretty old. A few dings. Smaller than a dread, adjustable saddle, chintzy but functional tuners, solid spruce top (I believe), laminate hog back and sides (I believe), and MIJ. Sweet neck, excellent playability. Had a bit of low-E buzz down low but a few turns of the saddle screws fixed it. I tell you what--I love that little thing. It's my bedside guitar now too. They wanted $62.50 for it, and I offered $50. Got it for $55. Even came with a chipboard case, a well-worn strap, and 7 or 8 new strings. So very much happiness for so very little money. (Most tanks of gas on this trip were more than that!)
Members AK47 Posted August 16, 2007 Members Posted August 16, 2007 You never know where you'll find a treasure. Congrats:thu: I have 2 guitars that I've bought at pawn shops. Yes, they are 2 of my favorites and were great deals. Usually pawn shop guitars suck but every now & then.
Members BackPocket Posted August 16, 2007 Members Posted August 16, 2007 55 bucks sound like a good deal to me for a playable guitar.
Members flip333 Posted August 17, 2007 Members Posted August 17, 2007 Nice story. I once played someone's fender acoustic that was decent enough. It was set up with close action for excellent playability. Congratulations on your NGD!!!! "In the summer time when the weather is hot...."
