Members guitarist21 Posted August 14, 2007 Members Posted August 14, 2007 Warning! This contains a blatant and shameless advertisement for my music! I'm playing my last show in Chicago before heading off to Boston for the school year. If anyone in Chicagoland is interested in coming, there'll be me (www.myspace.com/ellenangelico) and this other guy named Ryan Silver (www.myspace.com/rnsilver) playing some great (or at least we hope it will be kinda great) acoustic music from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Buzz Cafe in Oak Park on 905 S. Lombard Ave. Feel free to head to my myspace or PM me if you're interested in coming and/or want more info. Its a free show and the food at Buzz Cafe is awesome. So if nothing else, come for the food. (I've been wanting to use that smiley for a while) Or come for the guitar gazing. I'll be using my beautiful Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500R, an old Washburn dread with a red flamed top, and an even older and more-worn Gibson LG-0 which oozes mojo. Ellen
Members JasmineTea Posted August 14, 2007 Members Posted August 14, 2007 Eh, I'd go but I just drove 300 miles coming home from my sister's place. Have fun!

Members P.P. User Name Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 There's a small Sitar shop a block east of that coffee shop. You may enjoy dropping in for a bit.
Members dhoenisch Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 I'll be in Oak Park on Friday night (Mom lives there, and my shop is in her basement), so I may stop by for a bit. Not sure if you know him, but Mike Casey, my banjo/guitar instructor, sometimes plays there, usually on Saturday mornings in the winter time for somegood 'ole Bluegrass music. Dan
Members guitarist21 Posted August 15, 2007 Author Members Posted August 15, 2007 Ellen, all the best to you in Beantown. Thanks Queg! I'm totally excited. I just got my roomate's number today but I can't call her because she lives in Athens! Its four in the morning there now! I was nervous about moving to Boston but now that all my friends are heading off to college, I'm getting excited. Any Boston forumites around here? Anyone want to hook me up with a show? Ellen
Members AK47 Posted August 15, 2007 Members Posted August 15, 2007 If you ever play in Florida let me know where. Would love to hear you. Good luck in Boston and keep in touch.
Members guitarist21 Posted August 16, 2007 Author Members Posted August 16, 2007 GUYS! I just got a call today from someone at the Buzz Cafe saying I've been double-booked and another band was scheduled to play before me. This is less than TWO DAYS before the show! I'm fairly angry. I plan on asking them to let me and Ryan play starting at 8:30 and ending at 10:30 instead, because I told a BUNCH of people about this show and I advertised it as my "Last Show Before Boston," so more folks are showing up than normal. Is that a reasonable request, do you think? Any advice? I feel like Terry has probably dealt with this sort of thing a thousand times. Ellen
Members guitarist21 Posted August 16, 2007 Author Members Posted August 16, 2007 Bump? Any advice? I'm calling the women who sets up the shows in an hour. Ellen
Members JasmineTea Posted August 16, 2007 Members Posted August 16, 2007 I had the feeling the show was a few days ago. Heck, maybe I'll go. Fri or Sat? What day, Ellen? About all I can say is get on the phone and start some fast talking. One place or the other has gotta be cool enough to let you shuffle the time around.
Members guitarist21 Posted August 17, 2007 Author Members Posted August 17, 2007 Okay I talked to the people there and got everything straightened out. I'm now playing a half hour later. Starting at 7:00. JT- It's tomorrow (Friday).
Members OldGuitarPlayer Posted August 17, 2007 Members Posted August 17, 2007 Break a leg at the gig and good luck at school OGP
