Members sherwood Posted August 20, 2007 Members Posted August 20, 2007 Florida, Check out the Ibanez line . for the price they have some very decent acoustic-electrics. Good luck, Sherwood
Members drnihili Posted August 20, 2007 Members Posted August 20, 2007 There's a Walden G740CE on the bay for about 400. You could probably come in at less than 400 shipped pretty easily. Solid top and back (lam sides). Spruce/hog. http://cgi.ebay.com/Walden-G740CE-Cutaway-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar_W0QQitemZ130143580031QQihZ003QQcategoryZ47064QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Members DeepEnd Posted August 20, 2007 Members Posted August 20, 2007 . . . Check out the Ibanez line . for the price they have some very decent acoustic-electrics. . . . On my last (and only) trip to Guitar Center, I found that the finish quality of Ibanez acoustics had slipped since they started making them in China (prior to that, they were Korean made). Sad too, because I'm an Ibanez owner and fan. Plus, frankly, most of their A/E models aren't that great unplugged, IMHO. I much prefer the Artwood series, for example, the AW35RECENT: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-AW35RECE-ARTWOOD-SERIES-AcousticElectric-Guitar-?sku=512315. If you're looking for something less expensive, consider the AC35ECE: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-AC35ECE-ARTWOOD-SERIES-AcousticElectric-Guitar-?sku=512303. That said, you could also check out a Washburn D10SCE: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-?sku=516865.
Members dhoenisch Posted August 20, 2007 Members Posted August 20, 2007 I had one of these:http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-PR5E-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=518640 I was very impressed with it. It sounded great plugged in. Not so great unplugged though because of the slim body. Mine was the sunburst. . Dan
Members Broadus Posted August 21, 2007 Members Posted August 21, 2007 I would consider a Yamaha FG700S and put a good pickup in it. The Yamaha would be $200, so you could come out for $350 or less, it seems to me. The FG700S has a nice, full sound with a solid spruce top and laminated sides and back. It is solidly built and has a nice, low action. FWIW, I doubt you'll do better in this price range. Hope you the best. Bill
