. . . Check out the Ibanez line . for the price they have some very decent acoustic-electrics. . . .

On my last (and only) trip to Guitar Center, I found that the finish quality of Ibanez acoustics had slipped since they started making them in China (prior to that, they were Korean made). Sad too, because I'm an Ibanez owner and fan. Plus, frankly, most of their A/E models aren't that great unplugged, IMHO. I much prefer the Artwood series, for example, the AW35RECENT: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-AW35RECE-ARTWOOD-SERIES-AcousticElectric-Guitar-?sku=512315. If you're looking for something less expensive, consider the AC35ECE: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-AC35ECE-ARTWOOD-SERIES-AcousticElectric-Guitar-?sku=512303. That said, you could also check out a Washburn D10SCE: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Washburn-?sku=516865.

I would consider a Yamaha FG700S and put a good pickup in it. The Yamaha would be $200, so you could come out for $350 or less, it seems to me.

The FG700S has a nice, full sound with a solid spruce top and laminated sides and back. It is solidly built and has a nice, low action. FWIW, I doubt you'll do better in this price range.

Hope you the best.
